How to Disable Send Error Report to Microsoft

Whenever program crashes in Windows XP, we see “Send Error Report” to Microsoft’s message dialog box appear that have two options Send Error Report or Don’t send. Usually, we choose Don’t send option. This may be helping Microsoft, but it’s very annoying, when any program crashes. However, we can disable the feature of Error Reporting for all applications or can disable it for the Specific applications also.

How to Disable Send Error Report to Microsoft

1. Open System Properties, Press Window logo + Pause Break or Right click on My Computer and Select Properties.

2. Go to Advanced tab on System Properties. Click on Error Reporting.

3. Now, Select Disable error reporting and Put a check mark (tick) on “But notify me when critical errors occur”, and Click on OK and Click Apply to save the setting.

We have now disabled the feature of error reporting, but in case if you want to enable error reporting only for specific application to be monitored. Suppose, You want specific application to be monitored for error reporting like Yahoo’s messenger and MSN’s Messenger. We can specify specific application to be monitored.

To Disable Send Error Report for Specific Application

1. Open System Properties, Press Window logo + Pause Break or Right click on My Computer and Select Properties.

2. Go to Advanced tab on System Properties. Click on Error Reporting.

3. Now, If you want error reporting only for window, then Window operating system should be ticked(checkmark) and Remove the tick(Check-mark) from Programs.
If you need window and Application, both monitored except for few applications not to be monitored then, Click on Choose Programs.

4. Now, If you want error reporting only for window, then Window operating system should be ticked(checkmark) and Remove the tick (Checkmark) from Programs.
If you need window and Application, both monitored except for few applications not to be monitored, then click on Choose Programs.

Now, After Disabling the specific programs or applications from error reporting, it won’t show any error reporting dialog box in the future for the specific application.
